Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh and Ambassador Chief Ernest Baimba Ndomahina

The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Sierra Leone, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, on Monday 08/07/2024, engaged Ambassador Chief Ernest Baimba Ndomahina, Commissioner of National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) in his Office at Parliament Building in Freetown.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss the need for the Western Area to benefit from NaCSA’s projects and other activities they are involved in for purposes of poverty reduction.

In his submission, the Deputy Speaker acknowledged the work of NaCSA in the development of the country and went on to inform the Commissioner that the majority of the Commission’s projects are being implemented in the provinces, especially those that are supported by the World Bank and other international organizations.

The Deputy Speaker said he wanted NaCSA to implement some projects in the Western Area. “Most of the social safety net projects of the Commission are being implemented in the provinces”, he stated. The Deputy Speaker also called on the Commissioner to reposition and consider NaCSA’s projects for implementation in the Western Area. He also said that the reason for inviting the Commissioner was to chart the way forward on how Western Area’s survey could be done and included in the Commission’s Work Plan for purposes of implementation.

In responding to the Deputy Speaker’s request, the Commissioner of NaSCA promised that going forward, the Commission would consider it in their Work Plan and activities of the said Commission. The engagement was climaxed by sharing thoughtful information that is geared towards shaping and advancing the development needs and aspirations of the people and the country.
