Citizens Commend V.P Jalloh’s Role In Actualizing MCC Grant

Vice President, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh

Citizens of Sierra Leone are celebrating Vice President, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, for his exceptional role in supervising the activities of the country’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). The recent announcement of the approval of a $480 million compact grant investment in the energy sector by the MCC Board of Directors has been met with widespread praise and gratitude towards Vice President Jalloh.

The Millennium Challenge Coordinating Unit in the Office of the Vice President has been instrumental in securing this significant investment, which is set to benefit 4.6 million people in Sierra Leone, by delivering affordable energy.

Under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio, the country has seen remarkable progress in the MCC scorecard, with a successful implementation of the threshold program and the establishment of a strong regulatory framework in the energy and water sector.     

The approval of the MCC compact is a major milestone for Sierra Leone, as it is expected to spark economic growth, reduce poverty, promote democracy, and directly benefit those in need. Vice President Jalloh expressed excitement over this development, highlighting its transformative impact on the country’s energy sector and overall economic development.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Vice President Jalloh stated, “I am extremely pleased that today Sierra Leone was approved by the MCC Board for one of the largest Compacts in the region. This is a momentous occasion and a tangible step towards transforming Sierra Leone’s energy sector and ensuring our people will have access to reliable and affordable power. It will accelerate private sector development and sustainable economic growth.” The people of Sierra Leone have expressed their gratitude towards Vice President Jalloh for his dedication and leadership in overseeing the MCC activities in the country.

They also commended President Bio for appointing Dr Jalloh to this crucial role, which has resulted in significant progress and investments in the energy sector. The successful supervision of MCC activities by Vice President Jalloh has been instrumental in securing this important investment and advancing the country’s development goals.

Vice President Jalloh’s role in supervising the MCC activities in Sierra Leone has been praised as a key factor in driving positive change and progress in the country. His commitment to ensuring affordable energy access for millions of Sierra Leoneans has been recognized and celebrated by citizens across the nation.
