IWPG Global Region 5 Engages in Meaningful Discussions at UN CSW

At the 68th UN CSW conference, Sujin Park, the Regional Director of Global Region 5, International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), met with H.E Isata Mahoi, Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs of Sierra Leone.

The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 5 recently participated in the 68th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the UN Headquarters in New York. The CSW is a platform where governments and organizations come together to discuss policies and practices that promote women’s empowerment and gender equality.

During the CSW, Sujin Park, Regional Director of Global Region 5, met with H.E Isata Mahoi, the Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs of Sierra Leone. They discussed IWPG’s ‘Women’s Peace Education program and the ‘Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW),’ emphasizing the importance of peace-building initiatives. H.E. Isata Mahoi pledged to promote the DPCW in Sierra Leone and work towards peace in the region.

Additionally, a meeting was held with Aruna Naik, CEO of the India Development Foundation (IDF), who expressed interest in joining IWPG’s peace activities. Naik highlighted the importance of global women’s solidarity for peace and gender equality, emphasizing the need for reconciliation without conflict.

During the CSW, IWPG also hosted an NGO Forum, where Aruna Naik delivered a presentation on peace and gender equality. She stressed the significance of peace in alleviating gender inequality and promoting unity among women worldwide.

The International Women's Peace Group (IWPG), Global Region 5 (Sujin Park, Regional Director) attended the 68th UN CSW and took commemorative photos with members of organizations, including Aruna Naik, CEO of India Development.

Sujin Park, Regional Director of Global Region 5, expressed her pride in representing IWPG at the CSW and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to promoting peace and women’s empowerment on a global scale. She described the experience as motivating and highlighted the importance of collaboration and solidarity in achieving sustainable world peace.

IWPG is an international women’s NGO registered with the United Nations and operates in 121 countries worldwide. The organization works towards promoting peace through various initiatives such as women’s peace education, advocacy for legal frameworks, and fostering a culture of peace.

IWPG Global Region 5’s participation in the UN CSW was a valuable opportunity to engage with international leaders, exchange ideas, and strengthen partnerships for advancing women’s empowerment and peace-building efforts globally.
