The Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SLMA) is proud to announce the inauguration and handover of a state-of-the-art Police Station to the people of Bonthe. This milestone achievement underscores the commitment of the SLMA towards bolstering community safety and security, in line with the vision of His Excellency President Bio.

Following the reinstatement of Mr. Paul Sobba Massaquoi by His Excellency the President in January 2023, initiatives were swiftly undertaken to enhance Sierra Leone’s maritime reputation on the global stage. The administration prioritized the domestication of all maritime international conventions, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to adherence and compliance with international standards.

In a strategic move to address community needs, the SLMA engaged major clients and successfully secured support for constructing a new police station in Bonthe. “We are delighted to acknowledge the generous approval of the project proposal by Leone Rock, a leading mining company in Sierra Leone. Their swift action and support saw the construction of a 10-room state-of-the-art Police Station, within a remarkable eight-month timeframe.

This exemplary corporate social responsibility initiative stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication and visionary leadership of our Executive Director, who has demonstrated unparalleled commitment to improving our communities.

Completing this project is not merely a construction endeavour; it symbolizes a lasting legacy that will be cherished by the people of Bonthe and celebrated by the entire nation. The inauguration of the state-of-the-art police station will mark a significant milestone in the history of our government, our nation, and the people of Sierra Leone. The SLMA extends its deepest gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to this monumental achievement, including His Excellency President Bio, whose wisdom and leadership have paved the way for transformative change,” a release stated.
