The Minister of Youth Affairs, Mohamed Orman Bangura, led a team from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) to deliver agricultural equipment to the Chairman of the Moyamba District Council to increase agricultural productivity in Sierra Leone and support President Julius Maada Bio’s Feed Salone initiative. The equipment was delivered by TIKA Lead, Mehmet Ozdemir, to boost local production and cultivation

The initiative, which is a collaboration between the governments of Turkey and Sierra Leone, intends to increase agricultural output while emphasising the value of independent food production. The project aims to increase food security and contribute to the nation’s economic development by giving farmers the tools and resources they need.

Minister Bangura expressed gratitude to the Turkish government for their support and emphasised the importance of these kinds of partnerships in achieving food security and economic growth in Sierra Leone. He underlined that to boost the agricultural industry and raise the standard of living for farmers in the area, the two nations must continue their collaborative efforts.

The delivery of the farming machinery is a major step in the direction of accomplishing the objectives outlined in President Bio’s Feed Salone initiative. By providing farmers with the resources they require to increase productivity, the project aims to reduce reliance on imported food products and promote self-sufficiency in food production.

The collaboration between Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and the Turkish government demonstrates a team effort to meet the country’s objectives of food security and economic expansion. Together, the two countries are advancing agricultural practices and helping farmers in Sierra Leone, thereby laying the foundation for a more prosperous and sustainable future for the people living there.

An example of how international cooperation can bring about positive change and open doors for growth and development is the agricultural partnership between Sierra Leone and Turkey. It is envisaged that as the project develops, it will not only increase agricultural productivity but also serve as an example for other nations to work together to address global issues and create a better future for all.
