After Investigating Academic Qualifications: ACC Upholds Credentials Of NIB’s Deputy Executive Director

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has wrapped up its investigation into the claims made about the academic background of Mrs Fatima Mahawa Sandi, the Deputy Executive Director of the National Investment Board (NIB). The ACC was provided with an anonymous report in October 2023 that cast doubts on Mrs Sandi’s academic qualifications and implied that she might have provided false credentials when she was hired by the NIB.

The Academic Credentials of Mrs Fatima Mahawa Sandi are genuine, the ACC has confirmed, after a comprehensive investigation. Mrs Sandi holds a Master of Science degree in Procurement, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management from Salford University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Economics from Hofstra University, according to verification from both universities.

The ACC statement emphasised that there is no cause for concern because Mrs Sandi’s credentials have been verified as accurate and valid by the pertinent universities. Therefore, contrary to what was stated in the initial complaint, the Commission was unable to find any evidence that Mrs. Sandi had lied to the principal or exploited her academic standing.

Taking these results into consideration, the ACC has concluded the investigation and stated that it will continue to work with Mrs Sandi and other NIB officials in the fight against corruption. The Commission extended its gratitude to Mrs. Sandi for her cooperation during the investigation process.

The resolution of this issue emphasises the value of maintaining integrity and transparency in professional qualifications and emphasises the necessity of rigorous verification procedures in hiring. Mrs. Fatima Mahawa Sandi’s exoneration serves as a reminder of the value of due diligence and the need to address allegations with factual evidence.

The ACC’s choice to exonerate Mrs Sandi of all charges of misconduct upholds the idea of justice and fairness in the handling of misconduct claims. This outcome not only upholds Mrs Sandi’s reputation but also underscores the importance of accountability and credibility in public service.

The ACC’s closure of the investigation signifies a validation of Mrs. Sandi’s academic credentials and affirms her integrity as the Deputy Executive Director of the National Investment Board. A shared commitment to maintaining moral principles and encouraging openness in government is evident in Mrs. Sandi’s and the ACC’s cooperative efforts to fight corruption.
