Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, has joined global leaders at the ongoing Second Global Refugee Forum (GRF) 2023 at the Palexpo Complex in Geneva, with a focus on accelerating global support for refugees. The key objective of the special session is to foster an opportunity to hear from key leaders from the private sector, governments and civil societies on their commitments to ensure the safety and dignity of refugees and internally displaced persons, by safeguarding their fundamental human rights and strengthen their inclusion in national development programmes. The Forum will strengthen international, regional, and national human rights principles and mechanisms, and mitigate conflicts and wars, which are considered the root causes of global refugees and internally displaced persons. At the High-Level Plenary which followed the opening session, the Head of Sierra Leone’s Delegation, Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, Commissioner of National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), joined the King of Jordan and dozens of intergovernmental and non-governmental partners including Foreign Ministers, Private Sector, Civil Society and other organizations for a multi-stakeholder commitment for Refugees protection globally. According to the UNHCR, about 114 million refugees are in critical need of global support.

Commissioner Ambassador Ndomahina is expected to make a statement that will pinpoint the government’s commitment to strengthening the development of communities in Sierra Leone that, once played as host to refugees. NaSCa’s national strategic development plan is in solidarity with the Global Compact for Safe and efficient service delivery. Sierra Leone has enacted several legislative and legal instruments to effectively deliver essential social services to displaced Sierra Leoneans, Refugees, and stateless persons.

In line with the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework and the Global Compact on Refugees, the Government of Sierra Leone remains committed to providing protection and assistance to refugees, opening its doors for asylum seekers and stateless persons and helping them achieve lifelong solutions.
