Sky Bank Sierra Leone’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts included donating a variety of essential supplies to mothers and newborns at Oladuring Children’s Hospital in honour of International Women’s Day. The contribution, which included diapers, baby wipes, sanitary pads, buckets, and other baby-care items, was intended to provide practical assistance to vulnerable families while also commemorating International Women’s Day, which recognises women’s roles and rights.
Fatmata Suma, Head of Corporate Communication at Sky Bank, presented the items to hospital staff, saying the bank was delighted to commemorate the occasion by assisting mothers and their newborn babies. Suma explained that the initiative is consistent with the institution’s overall commitment to giving back to society and promoting inclusion. “International Women’s Day is an important time for us to acknowledge the role that women play in our communities,” she said. “As a bank, we believe in assisting women and children, and this donation is our way of celebrating with the mothers and their newborns.”
Sia Betty Sesay, Head of Corporate Banking at Sky Bank, also spoke at the presentation, describing the donation as part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to support community development. She explained that Oladuring Children’s Hospital was chosen because of the large number of women and newborns served, as well as the facility’s direct access to those in need. “As part of our corporate social responsibility, we wanted to reach out to mothers and their children during this special time,” Sesay explained. “As an institution, we firmly believe in giving back to society.”

Senior Matron Betsy J.D.S. Deen accepted the donation on behalf of the hospital and expressed gratitude for the prompt assistance. She described the supplies as beneficial to the mothers and newborn babies who are currently receiving care at the facility, and thanked Sky Bank for remembering the hospital during the International Women’s Day celebrations. “We are grateful to Sky Bank for remembering the mothers and babies here on International Women’s Day,” Deen said. “This assistance will go a long way toward helping the women and their children.”
Following the handover, the donated items were distributed to mothers at the hospital, many of whom expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the assistance. Sky Bank emphasised that the donation is consistent with its long history of community involvement and focus on social interventions in areas such as health, education, and women’s empowerment. Bank officials reiterated their commitment to continuing similar initiatives aimed at assisting communities throughout Sierra Leone and improving the well-being of vulnerable groups.
