Africell CEO Shadi Gerjawi
Africell Group has introduced Africell Business, a dedicated enterprise brand aimed at accelerating digital transformation for corporate institutions and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Sierra Leone. The launch event, held at The Leads Hotel in Aberdeen, Freetown, was attended by senior government officials, private sector leaders, corporate clients, and development partners, emphasising the company’s intention to position itself as a strategic partner in the country’s digital economy.
According to Africell CEO Shadi Gerjawi, the Africell Business initiative represents a deliberate shift away from providing standard telecommunications services and toward tailored, end-to-end enterprise solutions. According to Gerjawi, the shift will include internal restructuring, targeted investment in specialised corporate teams, service quality improvements, and the deployment of secure digital platforms to meet the unique needs of institutional and SME customers. He identified cloud hosting, data management, satellite monitoring, and integrated digital payment services as priority focus areas for the new unit, emphasising the importance of SMEs in Africell’s growth strategy.
According to Benjamin Okoro, Africell Group Head of Corporate Business, the new brand aims to deepen and strengthen corporate relationships through service digitisation and more responsive client engagement. Okoro unveiled the Africell Business Client Portal, a digital tool for corporate account management that the company claims will simplify interactions and improve service transparency. He also introduced Africell Business Heritage, a platform designed to recognise indigenous enterprises that demonstrate innovation and contribute to job creation; three local SMEs were recognised at the event for their contributions to the advancement of local industry.

Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh
Government representatives welcomed the decision. Chernoh Bah, Minister of Information and Civic Education, praised Africell for investing in local talent, media innovation, and community engagement, describing the company as a dependable partner in Sierra Leone’s development. He anticipated that Africell Business would increase enterprise access to digital services and assist in the integration of more SMEs into the formal digital economy. Salima Bah, Minister of Communication, Technology, and Innovation, described the launch as a shift from simply providing connectivity to actively facilitating digital transformation across sectors. The speaker emphasised the importance of national investment in digital infrastructure for enterprise-level digital expansion and encouraged public-private collaboration to support startups and SMEs.
Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh linked the announcement to Sierra Leone’s National Development Plan and vision of becoming a green and inclusive middle-income country by 2039 during his keynote speech. Africell’s investments in 5G, fibre connectivity, and enterprise solutions contribute to national competitiveness, digital inclusion, and public-private partnerships, promoting equitable access to digital services.
The launch also included community engagement elements, such as raffles in which attendees won smartphones, WiFi routers, and, as the grand prize, a Samsung S26. Africell is offering FIFA World Cup 2026 tickets to business customers who sign up for Africell Business services under 12-month contracts. The promotion includes five weekly draws and two grand prize winners. Africell Business aims to expand its enterprise digital solutions, corporate connectivity, and SME support services to strengthen Sierra Leone’s digital economy.
