The newly elected President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, led a delegation from his Executive Committee on a courtesy visit to the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Sports. This visit demonstrates the SLFA’s commitment to forming partnerships with key national sports institutions to promote the growth and development of football in the country.

At the NSA, Mr. Kamara introduced the members of his Executive Committee, which includes Vice President Alie Badara Tarawalie, Executive Members Pastor Philip Buck, Mohamed Sorie Jalloh, Brima Jalloh, Abdulai Osman Turay, and Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh. Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, the NSA’s Executive Director, warmly welcomed the delegation and congratulated the new leadership on their electoral victory.

Dr. Abdulai emphasised the importance of strategic planning, cooperation, and unity in Sierra Leone’s sports development. He stated, “We are delighted to welcome the SLFA’s leadership. Football is a national passion, and we must work together to ensure it is managed with integrity and foresight. His remarks emphasised the NSA’s commitment to collaborating with the SLFA to achieve shared objectives.

The meeting concluded with mutual assurances of cooperation, focusing on key priorities aimed at improving Sierra Leone’s football landscape. The discussions set a positive tone for future collaborations and promoted a common vision for the sport’s development.

Following the meeting at the NSA, the SLFA delegation visited the Ministry of Sports, where they were greeted by the Honourable Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima. The Minister congratulated Mr. Kamara and praised the new leadership’s commitment to serving the football community. She assured the SLFA of the government’s full support and promised ongoing collaboration to benefit both the sport and the nation.

“We are ready to collaborate with you. The government is firmly committed to football development and will ensure that we create an enabling environment for progress,” Minister James-Teima stated, reaffirming the government’s support for the SLFA’s initiatives.

Throughout both meetings, President Kamara reiterated his vision for transforming Sierra Leone football. He emphasised the value of unity and institutional support, saying, “This visit is more than just ceremonial; it is a reaffirmation of our commitment to accountability, collaboration, and national alignment.” We’re ready to listen, work, and deliver. Football has the power to inspire and uplift, and with your help, we are on track to usher in a new era of credibility and success for the sport we all love.”

The series of high-level engagements marks a strong start for the Kamara-led SLFA administration, ushering in a new era of collaboration and shared ambition among football’s leadership and key stakeholders in Sierra Leone’s sports ecosystem. As the SLFA begins this new chapter, the commitment to fostering collaboration and improving the football landscape is expected to yield positive results for both the sport and the nation as a whole.
