Joseph Sesay appeared in court on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in connection with grave accusations of cyberbullying against Edward Sesay. Under Section 44(1)(a) of the Cyber Security and Crime Act, 2021, Joseph was charged with two counts of cyberstalking in the case that was brought before Magistrate Sao Mamakoh Kallon at Pademba Road Court No. 3.
The charge sheet states that the aforementioned incidents took place in Freetown on December 3, 2023. Joseph is accused of spreading threatening audio messages against Edward via the WhatsApp account linked to the phone number +232 31214660. According to reports, the purpose of these messages was to harm Edward’s reputation, sow fear, and incite a breach of peace. An additional audio message that was intended to intimidate Edward and cause him emotional distress was mentioned in addition to the threatening content.
Throughout the proceedings, Inspector Mohamed Jusu, a seasoned cyber analyst at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters, gave vital testimony. Inspector Jusu, who has twenty years of experience looking into cybercrimes, clarified that one of his duties was to examine digital evidence. He described how, on the day of the alleged offences, he received a Techno mobile phone for examination and extracted pertinent materials, including audio messages, which were then saved on a flash drive for additional analysis. In court, the mobile device was used as evidence.
Joseph had the chance to cross-examine the witness during the hearing. He was given bail following the examination, and the case was postponed until August 8, 2025, for additional proceedings while the legal process is still ongoing.
