Africell Sierra Leone Unveils Fantasy Premier League for Subscribers

Africell Sierra Leone has introduced its own Fantasy Premier League (FPL) exclusively for its subscribers, which is an exciting development for football fans. This program gives supporters a thrilling opportunity to show off their managerial skills while competing for alluring rewards. On Thursday, July 31, 2025, the launch event was held at Africell’s headquarters, which is situated on Pivot Street, Wilberforce in Freetown.

Africell’s Media Relations Team Lead, Abdul Aziz Kamara, provided more details on the Fantasy Premier League’s foundation during the launch. According to him, it’s a free online game that lets fans take on the role of virtual football managers and is centred around the English Premier League. Participants must put together a team of 15 players, including three forwards, five defenders, five midfielders, and two goalkeepers, while staying within a £100 million initial electronic budget.

According to Kamara, managers are required to set up a legitimate formation every week and choose a captain who doubles point scorer as well as a vice-captain who will take over scoring responsibilities if the captain is unable to play. Points are given according to how well players perform in Premier League games, and a manager’s score is positively impacted by metrics like goals, assists, clean sheets, and saves. On the other hand, points are deducted for bad behaviour like missed penalties, own goals, and yellow cards.

Participants are permitted one free player transfer per gameweek; any additional transfers cost four points. Demand determines player values, and managers can use unique “chips” like the Bench Boost, Triple Captain, Free Hit, and Wildcard to outperform their rivals.

Africell’s Marketing Communications Manager, Kamanda Koroma, said he was thrilled about the initiative and shared his own experience playing fantasy football for almost ten years. He underlined that the goal of the Africell Fantasy Premier League is to appeal to both casual gamers and ardent football fans. “This is an inclusive, real-time, football-based competition that is open to everyone without any restrictions; it is not comparable to console games like FIFA,” Koroma said. He emphasised that there is no cost to participate and that the rewards are clear and satisfying.

The Africell Fantasy Premier League is scheduled to run for 38 gameweeks over ten months, which is the length of the Premier League season. A range of prizes will be given out in the league on a weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis. A Yamix bundle, which includes data, SMS top-ups, and a complimentary one-month subscription to Startimes—the platform that broadcasts Premier League games and other entertainment content—will be given to weekly winners. Monthly winners will receive a personalised jersey of their preferred Premier League team in addition to NLe 3,500 in cash.

The league champion will receive NLe 100,000, the runner-up NLe 70,000, the third place will receive NLe 60,000, the fourth place will receive NLe 45,000, and the fifth place will receive NLe 35,000. The top five overall performers will receive generous rewards at the end of the season. There is no cost to participate, but to distribute cash prizes, participants must have an Afrimoney account and an Africell SIM card linked to their name.

Koroma also underlined Africell’s dedication to sustaining interaction with participants via a variety of platforms, such as podcasts, WhatsApp groups, visual content, and frequent social media updates. He gave attendees his word that the business is committed to making sure all of its competitions are fair, transparent, and credible. This program is a component of our larger effort to support sports in Sierra Leone, which includes basketball, volleyball, and football. We invite everyone to participate, enjoy themselves, and join the Africell family,” Koroma said in closing.

By entering the league code “7uvl7d” or by clicking the link to auto-join, interested subscribers can now sign up for the Fantasy Premier League: https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/auto-join/7uvl7d. Africell’s Fantasy Premier League promises to be an exciting experience for all participating football fans in the 2025–2026 season, offering free entry, enticing prizes, and a spirit of competition.
