Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Iran, H.E. Salamu Koroma, has held a high-level meeting with Mr. Mohammad Reza Ayyazi, owner and managing director of TUBA Company (Turkey) and the Petrochemical Management Team (PMT Co., Iran), as part of ongoing efforts to attract major industrial investments into Sierra Leone.

The meeting follows the recently concluded Third Iran-Africa International Economic Cooperation Summit held in Tehran and Isfahan.

Mr. Ayyazi expressed strong interest in establishing various industrial projects in Sierra Leone, including petrochemical and gas refineries, solar energy facilities, AI-driven security factories, and water treatment systems. He emphasized that their companies utilize state-of-the-art global technologies and are committed to transferring technical knowledge, creating jobs, and empowering Sierra Leoneans for long-term sustainable development.

One of the standout proposals was a water treatment system using reverse osmosis (R.O.) technology. Mr. Ayyazi explained that this system operates with minimal energy consumption and requires limited land and manpower, yet delivers up to 90% water purification efficiency. He affirmed their readiness to partner with both the government and private sector in Sierra Leone, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Ambassador Koroma welcomed the proposals, emphasizing the importance of industrialization in line with international best practices. He noted the strategic need to revive Sierra Leone’s refinery capabilities and stressed the government’s openness to investments that align with national development goals under President Julius Maada Bio’s leadership.

“Sierra Leone’s youthful population, stable security environment, and existing bilateral ties with countries like Turkey and China make it an attractive destination for sustainable investment,” Ambassador Koroma said. He underscored the urgency of addressing water and agricultural infrastructure challenges and pledged to connect the investors with relevant government authorities, particularly the Ministries of Water Resources and Agriculture for collaboration on clean water projects.

The ambassador concluded by affirming Sierra Leone’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Iran and other strategic partners for the benefit of its people.
This engagement is a follow-up to the Third Iran-Africa International Economic Cooperation Summit, recently held in Tehran and Isfahan.
